Reinventing Waste Education: Turning challenges into opportunities
Sustainability Victoria and Barwon South West Waste and Resource Recovery Group invite you to the 2019 Victorian Waste Education Conference in Geelong.
At the conference there will be thought provoking, innovative, interactive and strategic discussions on ways to engage communities on waste and how we as educators can improve our knowledge, skills, capabilities and current practices.
Early bird tickets are set at last year's prices and will be available until midnight Friday, 12 July 2019. From 13 July 2019 prices will go to:
- 1 Day: $140
- 2 Day: $230
- Community 1 Day- $110
- Community 2 Days - $200
Conference agenda will be released once speakers are confirmed (late July/early August 2019). Keep up to date with the latest news about the event on the SV website.
Who should attend:
Anyone working in the waste and resource recovery education sector including local governments, consultants, educators, community groups/NGOs and land managers.
What's included:
- Tickets cover presentations, morning and afternoon tea and lunch on the days for which you hold a ticket.
- Free wi-fi.
What's not included?
Breakfast, dinner, accommodation and transport to and from the venue and parking are not included. See the FAQs below for further information.
Accommodation:
Novotel Geelong (conference venue) has a limited number of rooms available for delegates. Please book early to secure your accommodation.
Special accommodation rates for conference delegates apply to deluxe king (1 king bed) or deluxe twin (2 single beds) rooms only. Prices are:
- Accommodation and buffet breakfast for one: $249
- Accommodation and buffet breakfast for two: $269

Conference Dinner:
A dinner option is available for day 1 (three course alternate service at the Novotel Geelong). This is a separate ticketing option and is only available when booked online. Please relay your dietary requirements via your booking at least two weeks before the event.
Drinks are not included in the dinner price however they can be purchased at the event.
Additional requirements:
At least two weeks prior to the event inform organisers if you you have special needs or dietary requirements and we will do our best to accommodate them.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
i. Car parking
Parking at the venue is limited and is as a valet service ($25 per car per night for in house guests and $30 per car for day guests). Parking is not included in the conference ticket price.
Please contact the Novotel Geelong a minimum of two weeks prior to the event to book a parking space. Other options may be available in the Geelong CBD.
ii. Public transport (VLine):
The venue is 10 minutes' walk from Geelong's train station.
2. How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

3. What's the refund policy?
Refunds are available up to Monday, 7 October 2019.
4. Can I update my registration information?
Yes. You can update your ticketing information yourself if something has been incorrectly included or left out (e.g. dietary requirements). Simply log into your account and follow the prompts to add /change information.
5. Is my ticket transferrable?
Yes. If you can no longer attend the conference log in to Eventbrite and update the ticket details to reflect the new attendee. Please note, if ticket sales have closed you will need to contact the event organiser regarding special needs and/or dietrary requirements.
6. Can I just turn up on the day without a ticket?
No. Tickets must be pre-purchased online via Eventbrite as the venue has limited capacity. Please book early to secure your place.
7. Can I get a ticket anywhere else?
Tickets can only be purchased electronically via this site. purchase orders will not be accepted. Once a booking is made, a tax receipt from Eventbrite with an e-ticket will be sent to the purchaser to claim a reimbursement from their organisation.
8. What is the extra fee on my ticket cost?
The additional fee on your ticket is an Eventbrite processing fee. To support as many people as possible to attend, we have offered :
- early bird tickets at last year's prices for 5 weeks (unitl 12 July); and
- a new ticketing option for community groups and NGOs etc.
8. Do you have any free tickets for community groups?
The conference is a self-funded event so relies on ticket sales to cover all costs
At the same time, we need to keep prices at a reasonable level for attendees. For this reason we have:
